The Hand of God

One day, I went out with my parents to somewhere near my house. As I was very young, I was holding my mum’s hand very tightly. I don’t know when and how, I was so engrosed with what’s happening around me that I let go of her hand, unknowingly. When I realised that, I quickly held on to someone’s hand, while my eyes were looking curiously at other directions.

A few minutes later, when I looked up, I realised that the hand that I was holding on, wasn’t my mum’s!!! She was an Indian lady! I was shocked!! I quickly let go of the hand! I looked around panicky. But thank God, I finally found her. Infact, she was just a stone’s throw away from me…

Last Tues, during our leader’s meeting, God brought back this memory again. I began to feel that there’s a reason and purpose for why it happened and why do I still remember so vividly…

Through this experience, God is telling me something…

In this busy life, we are constently on the move. We are busy with ministry, work, family, relationship, etc. etc. Many of us don’t even have time to sleep! When tough times happen, we just held onto something that we thought will bring us security and assurance. However, it may seem so…. but not for long.

It was only until later do we realise that nothing in this world is stable. The economic is unstable. The amount of money I withdrew can be gone within a few hours. Relationship that seem so perfect turns rocky….

What can be stable in this world?

ONLY THE HANDS OF GOD, for He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

During that incident, I thank God that my mother has been with me, close to me, even when I held another lady’s hand. I’m thankful she didn’t disappear. She has been there.

Very often, we have been so busy that we fail to see the hand of God. We thought the hand that we are holding on will give us peace, joy, strength, hope, assurance…. but it’s later that we realise that it’s the wrong hand. I believe even when we are holding the wrong hand, God is not away. He is still so near to us and waiting for us to see HIS hand…..

Friends, whose hand are you holding now…… ??

Love.
